Internet and Television

Wi-fi Internet
The apartment has a wi-fi broadband internet connection via a box in the hall area, the login details are on the bottom of the box. The box should be connected to its power supply.

The white 4G wi-fi box is connected to a power line.

It takes a few minutes once the power is connected for the connection to come up. There should be lights illuminated on the box. The broadband connection uses 4G, it is fine for browsing the internet while watching a single streaming TV channel.

The telephone may be disconnected to avoid damage to the handset battery when the electricity is turned off.

Television
The television receives terrestrial Portugese channels, English television channels can be accessed through the small "streaming box". There are two remote controls, one for the TV and one for the streaming box.

Note: Use the red button on the Streaming Box remote control to turn the TV on and off.

At the time of writing, BBC, ITV and many more channels can be accessed through the Filmon app on the streaming box; which is used as follows:
  • Ensure the HDMI1 source is selected on the television (as above).
  • Power on the streaming box, so the blue light is on:
The streaming box is powered up when the blue light is on.
  • The box takes a few minutes to boot up, when the Homepage will appear. You can use the  HOME button on the streaming box remote control to return to the Homepage:

  • Use the arrow keys to select FilmOn.
  • Start FilmOn using the OK key. When it has started there are many channels to view, UK LIVE TV and BBC One is a start.

Three useful keys:
  • The blue power button turns the box off.
  • BACK key moves you backwards through the menus
  • HOME takes you back to the Homepage. It is sometimes easier to use this key than power off the box.
