Running routes

Falesia is a favourite training  destination for athletes from across Europe during the spring and autumn. Most of the athletes are runners, attracted by the cross country track and the great runs along very quiet roads, tracks and beach, as well as the track at the Victoria Sports hotel.
The Cross Country Track is just yards away.

Cross Country Running Course
The Cross Country track is just yards from the apartment, and there is no charge to use it.
The Cross Country track is mainly grass and sand
The "official" loop is 2K on grass with a few sandy areas and a not too challenging hilly section; most UK cross country runners would say it is grass not cross country. The complete loop frequently twists back on itself, so it's easy to choose part of the course for shorter reps.

Road and Track to Vilamoura (Google Maps Link)
There is a track out to a pedestrian bridge to Vilamoura, there are very few cars on this route. From the bridge, you can come back along the beach or over the cliffs. The beach is hard and fast unless the tide is in, when it is hard work. Finding your way across the cliffs is an interesting variation with great views out to sea.

The bridge leads to Vilamoura for longer runs. It is 4 miles out to the Vilamoura Golf Course Loop which is a 3 mile loop with little traffic early on a Sunday morning.

Athletics Track
The athletics track at the Victoria Sports Hotel was refurbished in 2018. Access to the track can be arranged at the hotel reception, but there will be a charge. There is also a track at the Alfamar, again there is a charge.
